PostSubject: Clans of the Next Generation   Wed Apr 21, 2010 9:35 pm

Many generations have passed since the time of the three kin and the warriors of the clans have since gone into chaos. Contention over territories soon grew and war erupted, killing many cats. Soon even the medicine cats started to ignore Starclan and their wishes, so they were all smitten and killed. That is.... all but four. Starclan couldn't bring themselves to end the warriors and their way of life, so they decided to start fresh with the most innocent of the clan cats.

First there was Birchleaf, who was named Birchstar and made Treeclan, a clan of cats who lived in the trees.

Next there was Mistpelt, who was named Miststar and made Fogclan, a clan of cats who preferred to live in the shadows and bogs.

Then there was Sandtail, who was named Sandstar and made Seaclan, a clan of cats who didn't mind the water and learned to fish and swim.

Lastly there was Burntpaw, an apprentice at the time, named Burntstar who made Emberclan, a clan of cats who preferred the hot green leaf to the other more cold seasons.

The cats recruited loners and rogues and even some kittypets and bred with them, soon creating a steady flow of warrior cats. And thus the clans became a success.

RULES:

◘No godmodding
◘No powerplaying
◘Don't let the violence get out of control
◘No graphic romance
◘Pace yourself. (Kits don't turn into warriors in a couple of days, cats don't fall in love instantly, etc.)
◘Please respect me as the owner

Rainstar was out patrolling SeaClan's borders. She was closet to Treeclan right now, but was thankful with the little bit of extra space between the two clans. Heck, maybe she'd even get some hunting done today! She tried to think of the last time she'd hunted for herself but came up with a blank.

Featherstar padded up to the border that separated Treeclan and Seaclan. Her molted brown blended in well with her surroundings, making her hard to spot against the rolling hills and sagey bushes. She took in a breath of the fresh air, scenting something else along with the normal horse-place smell.

Suddenly, the wind shifted so that Rainstar could smell the other cat. She hissed loudly. What did Featherstar want here? What was she doing so close to Seaclan territory? She had no business being this close to the border! "Featherstar?" Rainstar called out, sounding a lot calmer than she was. She was on the defense, not knowing what a Treeclan cat was doing so nearby.

Searedstar gave a massive yawn, glancing around the camp for a couple of moments before leaping up on the high ledge. "Let all cats able to catch their own prey gather beneath the highstone for a clan meeting." His deep, powerful voice rang through the clearing. He waited for a few moments for the cats to gather below. "Redkit, Weavekit, come forward. From this day forwards, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be called Redpaw. I will be your mentor. I hope to pass on some of the good qualities my mentor, Flameburst taught me." He bent over and touched noses with the apprentice, pride shining in his bright, jade-green eyes. He promised in his head to make him great.
"From this day forwards, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will be called Weavepaw. Flameflower, come forward. ____ taught you courage and strength, and I hope you will be able to pass these qualities onto Weavepaw."
Weavepaw leaned upwards to touch noses with her new mentor, practically wriggling with excitement.

Jumpingwave yawned sleepily, padding out of the warrior den and into camp. He leaned backwards in a hefty stretched, glancing around the whole the two-legs had dug out many season ago. He wondered where everyone was. Camp was quiet today...

"Hello Jumpingwave," Rainstar purred with a smile on her face. She had almost literally appeared out of nowhere. She could do that when she wanted to, and today, she needed something to amuse herself. Therefore she had resulted in popping out of nowhere to frighten clan members. Hey, even clan leaders deserved some fun!

The blue tom jolted, whirling around to see Seaclan's leader, Rainstar. "Oh, it's you." A sheepish smile crept across his muzzle. "Sorry, you just startled me, is all." He gave a shoulder a brisk lick, as if trying to smooth down his bristling fur with his tongue. Suddenly the fact that she was the leader registered and he dipped his head. "Sorry."

"And what if I was an enemy warrior? That might not have turned out so well," Rainstar smirked. "But that's beside the point. Right now I don't want to talk about enemy clans," she said. Her head cocked to the side with a grin playing on her muzzle, "Would you like to go on a hunt with me?"

"Well, if you were an enemy warrior we'd have bigger problems than my unawareness. How would they have gotten into the camp?!" He nodded, swishing his bushy tail back and forth. "Yes, a hunt sounds nice. Where do you think we should go? Green-leaf is almost started, so almost anywhere should have plenty of prey." The tom tilted his head ever so slightly with question.

Rainstar chuckled, "That's a good point. What do you think about hunting in the water. I'm in the mood for a fish," she licked her muzzle, almost being able to taste the fish in her jaws already. "Shall we be going then?" she grinned.

"Sure." He nodded, starting to pad in the direction of the river, but slowing enough so that the leader could take the lead. Jumpingwave stretched each hind leg in turn, trying hard to become completely awake. He would need to be alert if they were going fishing.

Rainstar did take the lead. She jumped in front of him, strutting around with her nose held high. Right now she wasn't outwardly worried about enemy warriors or prey seeing her. Inwardly, however, she doubted that when you're leader of the clan those fears ever really go away. She recognized that they were nearing the water and purred quietly thinking about the juicy fish that it held.

A tiny smile crept across the warrior's muzzle at how proud she looked. Starclan knew they needed a strong leader to guide and protect their clan... The other clans were all being very quiet, and this put him on edge. Were they planning something? He shook his head in an attempt to clear the paranoid thoughts. He needed to be grateful for the peace, not afraid. Slowly he approached the river, quietly padding up to the edge and peering over at the water in an attempt to locate a fish.

Rainstar did the same. She found a small group of fish -maybe two or three- and waited for the right moment to strike. Her eyes narrowed with focus as she unsheathed her claws and swept them over the surface of the water where the fish were. She felt something on her paw and realized that she had gotten one of them. She clawed at it once more before bringing it onto land. She looked over at Jumpingwave to see how he was doing.

The tom's icy-blue gaze seemed to pierce the water as he stared into it, so still that you could hardly tell he was breathing. Suddenly he stuck a paw in the water, flicking a fish with it onto land and biting it quickly before it had the chance to wriggle back to safety. He looked over at Rainstar, meeting her gaze evenly. "Well done." He nodded to her with respect.
