The ShadowClan leader let out a loud hiss of annoyance. ThunderClan scent flared in his nostrils, making his fur fluff out by instinct. He hated that his patrol had came too late to meet up with the neighboring clan's border patrol. The large black-and-white tom slid his claws out, digging them into the ground. "Come on," He muttered, flicking his tail for Rowanclaw to follow.

Blackstar padded away from the border, heading deeper into his territory. He could feel Rowanclaw's breath on his tail, and for a moment he thought about turning on the warrior and telling him to give him some space. But this was clan life, not the rogue life he had been so used to before Brokenstar and Tigerstar had entered his life. Suddenly he realized the tabby warrior had mewed his name. "Yes, what is it?" After being told to smell, the tom could scent his deputy nearby. "Rowanclaw, we'll part here. The patrol is complete. I'll go find Russetfur."

She stopped half-stride when a scent blew on the slight breeze. It wasn't a mouse, nor a vole or rabbit. But Blackstar. Hmm. And Rowanclaw. What are they doing?

"Greetings, Russetfur." The leader meowed as he bushed his way under the thick pine tree branches. "How's the prey running?" He added, stopping a tail-length's away from the she-cat. Blackstar wondered if he'd made the right choice; Russetfur was the obvious choice for clan deputy, but what about the fact that he had other feelings for the she-cat? Would the clan accept him if he took the deputy as a mate?

"Hello, Blackstar," she dipped her head respectfully to the leader. "I would say the prey isn't at it's best, but it will do." Russetfur nodded, the tip of her tail twitching back and forth behind her. Blackstar seemed to be thinking about something. She was curious as to what.

"Hmm," He grunted, staring into the distance. "Well, I suppose I'm not helping matters by stopping you. . . " He trailed, obviously trying to think of a reason to stay. There was no trouble at the camp, and he doubted RiverClan would be wanting a fight after a litter of their kits had found a twoleg thing and had caused illness. And, well, ThunderClan would no problem to handle.

The amber tom stalked over the marshy lands towards a frog, the tantlizing scent flooding over him. Its rubbery green skin was wet and slippery, so he would have to be extra careful. Tigerheart let out a satisfied grunt as he slapped it onto the grass, lunging in for the kill.
